though it’s not valued
in our culture
there is wealth
in observing one spot
for ages
for decades
for millennia.
every shift of the wind
every dance
of the sun and clouds
every stranger
that passes by
every rain
that comes.
through seasons
through storms
through growth and wreckage.
this is the expertise
of the grass and trees.
those who watch.
